Asma’a, 23 years old, from Dara’a (Syria); in Zaatari camp (Jordan) since 2012; student in English Literature on a DAFI scholarship. “For almost four years, I stayed home here in the camp. I was not able to resume my studies because we didn’t have the financial means. I was very pessimistic about my future. My father used to be an English teacher in Syria so he would home-school me. But he was very sad too. It was stressful. Receiving the scholarship was a huge relief. It means that I’ll have a brighter future. For me and my family. And for the next generation of Syrians.”
